What Should You Know Before Going Into a Dealership?

ID-100142021

Car buying is incredibly intimidating.  There is a lot of unknown factors at play about what one should or shouldn’t know or have done before setting foot inside of a dealership.  Here is some advice that we have on what someone should do before they come into purchase a vehicle.

  • Know your credit score:

It is important to know what that number is, because that number is the determinate of many things.  You need to know if that score is low or not, don’t just guess about it.  This is also a good time to go through that credit report to find out if there is any misreporting that you can take action in correcting.  By getting this information removed, you may be able to get your credit score up at a vital moment before buying.

  • Have a Down Payment Ready:

Being able to put money down is going to benefit you.  If you have the money to put down, it increases your chances of approval and may get you a better interest rate.

  • Know your options:

Research the dealership and know the price range of the vehicle type you are looking for.  Many, like Bayside Chrysler Jeep Dodge, have websites that let you browse their new and used selection.  As long as you have an idea of what kind of vehicle you need, you can see the price range of options.  Bear in mind that while you might have the perfect vehicle picked out online, it may be different once you see it and take it for a test drive.  Have an idea of what you want, but be ready to change it.

Car Dealerships and the Incentive for Low Interest Rates

ID-100113840

Recent statements from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau have left car buyers worried that their local dealership will intentionally set them up with a high interest rate.

In a recent commentary for Automotive News, Jim Henry explained why that is simply not the case. Auto dealers are actually more motivated to get their customers a lower interest rate than, for example, a mortgage broker because a mortgage broker will only make money on the mortgage. When it comes to an auto loan, a dealership is set to make money, even if they take a lower interest rate, because the dealership will make money on the service of the car.

Besides this argument, there is great availability of low-interest auto loans to consumers, even those with bad credit or no established credit history. Car buyers can negotiate lower monthly payments, lower interest rates, longer loan terms, or whatever they need for their particular credit and financial situation. All it takes is a car buyer sitting down with a dealership’s finance department and exploring their options.

Obtaining an auto loan with bad credit or without a credit history can be difficult, but it is achievable. Contact a sales person at Bayside Chrysler Jeep Dodge and find a time to come in so we can work with you to find the proper loan. We’ll get you driving away in the new or pre-owned vehicle best suited for your lifestyle. Be sure to like us on Facebook and to follow us on Twitter to see our monthly specials.

New Cars Remain Affordable!

New car buyers have some great news for when they decide to head into the dealership. According to a new report, the affordability of new vehicles is stable.

Auto Credit Express breaks down a second quarter report from Comerica Bank. The report is known as the “Auto Affordability Index.” What it does is compare the median income of a family in the US to the price of an average-priced car. They then find out how long it’s going to take to pay-off that cost. This is where the good news comes in for the consumer. On average, it’s going to take that family 22.9 weeks to finance their vehicle. This is about the same that it was in first quarter of 2012. Translation, the prices of new cars remains the same.

New vehicles are continuing to be affordable, which is some great news for people in the New York area. The disaster of the hurricane still remains and numerous people are needing to get cars to replace those lost. We here at Bayside Chrysler Jeep Dodge have a saying that we live by and that’s “We Love to Say Yes.” Need to replace a lost car or just in the market, contact us with your application and we’ll help you get that car you need.
