2014 Set to be Positive Year for Industry According to Dealers

ID-10032918

2014 is starting out with an optimistic outlook for dealerships. Many are looking to this year continuing an encouraging trend for the industry as sales and loans are expected to increase.

According to Ally Financial who did a survey at the 2014 NADA Convention and Expo in New Orleans of auto dealers showed that they had a positive outlook for the upcoming new year. The majority of those surveyed expected more than a 10 percent increase over the previous year.

When asked further as to why they are having such positive expectations, the reasoning is that the dealers believe that sales will be sustained through consumer confidence. Other key factors that were identified as to why is due to aging vehicles and fleets, economic policy, and incentives. 75 percent of the dealers believe that an increase sales of F&I products will lead to an increase of sales as well as vehicle service contracts, maintenance, and GAP products.

What the consumers can expect to see in 2014 is an increase in social media. 76 percent of the surveyed dealers indicated that they will be taking more advantage of social media and using it to reach out to new and existing customers.

What to Do With Your Tax Refund

ID-100111818That time of the year has finally come and gone for the majority of Americans. I hope you weren’t one of the people rushing to get to the post office on April 15th because you waited till the last possible second to file that return. Luckily, it’s done for another year. Now a hefty tax return could be heading your way and a new problem comes with it. What do you spend it on?

Ebay conducted a survey to find out just what people were going to be using that tax refund money on. About a third of the people polled plan on using putting their check towards purchasing a vehicle. 25 percent plan on purchasing a vehicle. Thirty-one percent plant to use the money to add a second vehicle to their household or buy it for a child.

More people were planning on using the money for something auto-related that wasn’t necessarily a new or pre-owned vehicle. 57 percent were going to use it for service and maintenance of a current vehicle. 36 percent are going to buy tires. 13 percent plan on using the refund to pay off a car loan they already have.

What are you planning to do if you’re receiving a refund? If you’re interested in a vehicle, the amount of money you’re potentially getting can make a good down-payment to help with your rates and monthly payments. There’s a reason why you see a number of auto-finance blogs write about how fantastic tax refunds are at this time of the year.

2013 Looking Up for Auto Loans!

ally_auto_NADA2013_infographics_612x792Dealers are incredibly optimistic about what 2013 is going to bring. More than 100 auto dealers were surveyed at the 2013 NADA convention that occurred over the weekend. What Ally Financial put together from all of the responses was that they are expecting this new year to be strong.

About 60% the surveyed dealerships believe that their sales will be growing by 10% or more this year. 54% believe that buyer confidence will provide a boost to sales. Sales will also be bolstered by the cars getting too old to drive, promotions, and a host of new models that will be on display in showrooms. Also, half of those surveyed also believe that with people getting their credit improved, this in turn will lead to them coming in and purchasing a vehicle.

The survey also showed optimism in used-car sales. 47% think, in fact, that it’ll be the most profitable segment in the year.
